Richard Griffiths is head of M&A Asia at BNP Paribas. He has over 30 years of corporate finance advisory experience with a significant portion of his career spent in Hong Kong.  His previous roles include Head of M&A Asia at Macquarie, Head of Corporate Finance Asia at Houlihan Lokey, and Head of M&A Asia at ABN AMRO and RBS. Richard is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) and holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from Durham University, UK.

 

Richard has advised on over USD 70 billion of M&A deals in his career, most recently Geely's EUR 740m sale of a 10% stake in its joint venture with Renault to Aramco (2024); the USD 1.7bn acquisition of NASDAQ-listed Hollysys by Ascendent Capital (2024); the EUR 8 billion merger of the powertrain businesses of Geely and Renault (2023) and the USD 3.3 billion takeover offer for HK-listed Vinda by RGE Group (2024).  He has advised on many other landmark and award winning transactions in Asia including the USD 3 billion hostile bid for Singapore listed Parkway Healthcare; the successful USD 2 billion hostile bid defence of HK-listed China Gas Holdings; the USD 1.6 billion acquisition of Dragonair by Cathay Pacific and its USD 500 million investment into Air China; and the contested bid for HK-listed Harbin Brewery by SABMiller.
